Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté has praised Virgil van Dijk for being a role model for him on and off the pitch. And says he wants to be just as good when he grows up.

In this event, the French star paid tribute to his senior without holding back.
“A great defender!” Konaté exclaimed.
“I think if we talk about you, what you’ve done is incredible.”
“Personally, my relationship with Virgil is very good both on and off the pitch. I remember when I arrived here at 21. He gave me advice and helped me a lot to settle in.”
“I remember when I played for Leipzig, I watched Liverpool’s games many times. But I didn’t realize how good my big brother was. Until I came here, I thought to myself – Is this possible? -“
“Now I realize that he’s the real deal. Look at many strikers. When they see Van Dijk, they’re scared. They must be thinking to themselves, ‘There’s no way I can beat that guy.’”
“On the pitch I need you and I think you see it the same way. I hope so!”
